This one could make your head explode:
They say that they can't stop the bonuses for legal reasons and that they will limit future bonuses, but that's not assuaging me at all. Every third or fourth person in the country seems to be a lawyer these days. Are you telling met that there's no loophole to prevent the payment of bonuses to people WHO RAN THEIR COMPANY INTO THE GROUND?? AIG is beyond broke. They are deep in debt and are all but nationalized at this point.
So let's get that American legal ingenuity in gear and find a way to avoid paying these bonuses. Rewarding stupidity and ineptness isn't a good investment of taxpayer dollars.
American International Group is giving its executives tens of millions of dollars in new bonuses even though it received a taxpayer bailout of more than $170 billion dollars.
