Sorry Charlie
July 31st 2010 18:33
Sorry Charlie. And that is a description, NOT an apology. Charlie Rangel (D, NY) used to be in charge of the House Ways and Means Committee. in case you don't know, that committee writes our country's tax laws. Now, Rangel is facing a slew of ethics charges, including claims that he failed to pay his taxes.
What a pitiful excuse for a public servant. Can you believe it? That would be similar to the chief law enforcement officer of the country refusing to enforce our laws. Oh, wait. Attorney General Eric Holder is largely ignoring our border enforcement and immigration laws. He even sued Arizona for trying to enforce its immigration laws. Oops.
And don't forget that Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner had a little tax problem of his own. He can't manage his own finances, but we can trust him with management of the nation's treasury, right?
At least Obama's on the level. Oh, wait. Didn't he sign the "pay as you go bill" just a few short months ago? He berated the GOP for running up the debt and proclaimed that he'd forevermore pay for future government expenditures through tax increases and/or spending cuts. Then, just a week or two ago, the GOP tried to demand that he live up to that when he pushed for an extension of unemployment benefits. Surely Obama would live up to the promise he made, right? Nope. He called the GOP every name in the book simply because they asked him to pay for the extensions with cuts somewhere else. He's a piece of work.
These are the leaders of our country. Is anyone surprised we're in such terrible shape? Laws mean absolutely nothing to these scoundrels. Laws are for the little people. All they care about is money and power and they will do ANYTHING to get it and keep it.
I weep for our country.
