Schmuck alert: Dems and GOP

August 18th 2011 20:19
SPIN METER: Dems rake in special interest dollars

While the linked article above takes the Dems to task for their hypocrisy in raising money from special interests, it also talks about the influence of moneyed interests in all the campaigns -- including those of Obama and the GOP candidates for office.

Until the money of big business, Wall Street, unions, and other special interests is excised from the elections process, we'll continue to get more of the same. That includes a government that caters to those interests and elected representatives who pay little attention to the needs of "we, the people."

The love of money is the root of all evil -- and Washington loves money. Starve Washington of money and maybe they'll start paying attention to the average voters again. Will that ever happen? We can only hope.

Taking the special interests out of elections would be a good start, PopCon. The next step would have to be shutting down the welfare system and forcing the societal parasites to fend for themselves, this would remove a huge chunk of both ignorant voters and democrats (same thing, actually). Cut off funds for illegals, stop pandering to those who don't respect our system (maybe they'll leave).

And then we can tackle the serious problems of how to get the economy going again. That's just for starters, of course.

Did I mention lots and lots of prayer?

I love your article! As a small business man (a drywaller) my biggest problem is regulations, at every level. Even county government is regulating us to death. Three jobs were killed this week alone by bureaucrats at the county level. These guys had no particular reason, they just said they are studying the merits of additions and repairs on these private homes. Two have been "studied" for five months, and still no permit! Thanks.... Glenn Raymond

SL, I agree. We just can't keep on the path we're on. It's unsustainable.

Glenn, one of my favorite Reagan quotes is this:
"The nine most terrifying words in the English language are, 'I'm from the government and I'm here to help.'" That's so true.
