Obama's a FAILURE...

February 28th 2009 05:10
...at vetting people. Seriously, how grossly incompetent can one man be at sizing people up? In his personal life, he chose Rev. Jeremiah Wright as his pastor. He is friends with Bill Ayers and Father Michael Pflueger. As president, he has had one failed cabinet appointment after another. Now there's this:

White House general counsel Gregory Craig has seized control of Obama's vetting process after a series of nominees with unpaid taxes. But his wife's business may also have avoided taxes. Who vets the vetter?

I know that was supposed to be a rhetorical question, but who does vet the vetter? Obama -- that's who. This is the responsibility of the president. The fact that Obama's vetter can't even keep his own house in order doesn't speak well for Obama's judgment.

Then again, maybe I'm being too hard on Obama. Perhaps every single person he knows is a scofflaw and these are just the least offensive of the bunch. If that's the case, then the joke's on us, the voters. We trusted this man to have the wisdom to surround himself with capable and honest people. Who could've guessed that he didn't know any capable and honest people?

I think, PopCon, that he just got a little cocky because he was never vetted at all and the media ignored his sensitivity, dishonesty and poor judgment. It probably never occurred to him that anyone would ever question him about anything. He doesn't consider himself president, but ruler and messiah. What we've seen so far can predict what to expect in the future. And it doesn't look good.

I usually judge the character of a person by their friends, and the company they keep. Looks like our new president keep bad company, and picked some sorry friends. That does reflect on him as a person, and leader.

I think we all wish that B.O. had learned the old adage "If you want to pick cherries, don't go into an apple orchard."

We are suffering from his ignorance already.
We are paying him to learn as he goes in some very, very expensive ways. Oh! Did I forget?--our children and grand
children will pay for his training too.

Good point, SL. Perhaps O has a Messiah/faux-Midas complex. He thought everything he touched turned to gold because the media and his worshipful followers believe he's the Messiah. He just thought that he could do no wrong and, as a result, didn't bother to put in any due diligence with respect to naming his cabinet. That's definitely a possibility.

So right, Lester. A mistake or two would be forgivable, but he looks like he is ACTIVELY trying to pick the worst people imaginable. Maybe it's a game. Maybe he is testing the limits of the adoring media's and his fawning voters' love. Perhaps he wants to see how badly he can screw up before someone in his entourage asks a hard question or two. That would be a great psychological experiment to test the Messiah complex.

You're right, Edward. I guess we shouldn't be surprised that he is struggling. Obama hadn't managed anything more substantial than the construction of a ham sandwich prior to being elevated to the White House. That's like taking a first-year analyst at a corporation and making him the CEO. Obama seems to be in over his head because he IS in over his head. Maybe he'll be a quick study and help us to avoid that "catastrophe" (his term). If he isn't a quick study, we are in big, big trouble.

The sad thing, olly, is that a lot the negative info on Obama has been out there for the world to see (or just under the surface). Unfortunately, we had a lot of voters who refused to consider it and a media that refused to look into it.
