Obama and PAYGO

June 15th 2009 07:20
Last week, Barack Obama expressed his desire to adhere to the PAYGO philosophy:

President Obama on Tuesday proposed making "pay-as-you-go" rules for federal spending into law.

The so-called PAYGO proposal requires Congress to balance any increased spending by equal savings elsewhere, Obama said in announcing the measure that now goes to Congress.

Think about it for a second. What would PAYGO mean to Barack Obama? All it means is that he will start raising everyone's taxes. That's the ONLY way for him to pay for all the spending he has planned. He's not proposing meaningful spending cuts anywhere. He can only make it up by raising taxes.

Here's a suggestion, Barack: Cut down on the "GO" part. Your profligate spending is more "GO" than we can handle. If there was a lot less "GO", then we could have a chance to "PAY" for it without taxing working Americans to death.

Truthfully, this was just a gimmick by Obama. Folks are starting to realize how much he plans to spend and they're getting worried. He's just trying to quell their fears with this lame suggestion that he can pay (or make us pay) for everything he wants. It's not working. People are now realizing the dangerous path of financial armageddon that he's put us on.

Shouldn't the letters be GOPAY, that's what he expects the rest of us to do, PopCon. And PAY and PAY...

I think many dumb down voters now would like to pay him to go away, I chip in some if he will resign pack his bags and go back to Kenya, Indonesia, or maybe he could be president of the newly established Palestinian state he wants Israel to sponsor by giving up their land to the enemy.

Lester, reading your comment it's hard to believe you weren't one of those 'dumb down' voters. Generally when making brash claims regarding the intelligence of others, one should consider their own intellect; and at the very least proof read ones comments before posting.

Also, with regards to the PAYGO system, this was introduced by Bush Senior - was it not? And when it came up for review, Bush Junior decided to simply abolish the system. Bush was responsible for more spending than any other President in your countries history; all whilst lowering taxes. Of course, Obama MUST be an idiot for wanting to reconcile the ledgers.

Do you have any comprehension of what would happen if you just keep spending, spending, spending without looking at where to fund it? Does anyone remember what happened to the USSR... guess not!

Your ignorance is really stunning Mau! Bush 41 and Bush 43 were NOT Junior and Senior. Yes, President Bush 43 ran up the debt. A couple of little things like 9/11 and Katerina sort of cost just a weensy bit more than anyone could have expected... or predicted. Not to mention the criminals in the Democrat party that allowed the housing and banking bubbles to explode. Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, former Senator B.O. (B.S.). Since he took office he has tossed away more money that all previous presidents combined. He has blamed President Bush for his own stupidity and lack of judgment. He has blamed this country for everything he could think of... surprisingly he hasn't gotten around to blaming us for the demise of the dinosaurs, but give him time.

Maybe you should tell B.O. (B.S.) what his insane spending habits will provide for us. He isn't listeningto anyone else.

And if you don't like the way Lester writes, don't read it. Don't use him or anyone else as an excuse to display your own ignorance.

No doubt, SL. We'll be paying for 1000 years for Obama's grand plans.

Unfortunately, Lester, we're stuck with him. Hopefully, though, we can defang him some in the 2010 elections. Right now, he has a blank check with Congress, so he'd better get busy and pass whatever he wants the most. I think it's going to get a lot tougher after next November.

Mau, Bush 43 was an absolute disaster. You'll NEVER hear me defending his fiscal irresponsibility. I criticize him and the GOP very frequently. Obama is spending at a rate more than twice what Bush did, though. And the only way for him to fund it is to raise taxes (which he keeps claiming he will only do on the richest 2%). He's selling us a bill of goods and the American people are starting to see through it.

My qualms aren't with balancing the books. My qualms are with having so many debits that you have to drown the country with tax increases to achieve the offsetting credits.

Thanks S.L. I may not write as good as some dumbocrats, but at least I am smart enough to be republican. and to know the difference between capitalism, and socialism.

Bush did spend a lot but you could see where it went, but where are the trillions going B.O. is spending? Guess what no one knows.

Sorry Mau-Medellin I didn't have time to proof read this morning I was running late, but I still say the dumb down voters are starting to see the error of their ways. If you like B.O. so much you can have him, please take him off our hands you deserve him.
