Murtha and the Dems

February 23rd 2009 06:49
For the past few years, the GOP has had a problem with ethics and corruption. It was part of the reason that they lost control of Congress and the White House. Now that the Democrats are in control, though, their ethical violations are piling up at a rampant pace. A recent AP article outlined the Democrats' most egregious ethical lapses. If you're interested, check out the article. I won't bother to list them all here, but I would like to mention one that hasn't gotten enough attention:

Federal agents raided two Pennsylvania defense contractors that were provided millions of dollars in federal funding by Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., chairman of the House Appropriations defense subcommittee.

Murtha is an old-school swindler. His shady dealings date all the way back to the Abscam scandal in the late 70's and early 80's.

Despite his perpetually sleazy behavior, Murtha keeps getting elected to Congress. I suspect his affinity for wasteful pork projects in his home district keeps him popular with his constituents, but he is the poster child for what is wrong with Washington. One of these days, his hand will get stuck in that cookie jar and he will be called to account for his behavior. His district won't do the right thing and dump this man from office. Hopefully, these recent raids will reveal what role, if any, he has had in perpetuating the incestuous pay-for-play entitlement mentality that permeates Washington these days.

As for the Democrats in general, you would think that several years out of power would've taught them humility and constraint. It seems, though, that they were just biding their time until they could take the reins again and start getting the BIG payouts and favors that come with being in control. And, as usual, the emasculated taxpayers are left with little or no credible representation in our nation's capital. It's a shameful situation that we YET AGAIN find ourselves in.

Murtha is a disgrace, PopCon. He should have been booted out long ago, but for some reason they keep re-electing him. He is definitely the poster boy for term limits!

Hey PopulistConservative, Murtha is not only a disgrace, but a crook, and anti-America that deserves to exiled to Iran.

I hope that liberal MSM will finally do their jobs, and tell the truth to the American people.

SL and Lester, I agree on Murtha. I can't for the life of me understand Pennsylvania voters who keep putting him back in office. Then again, I used to live in Cynthia McKinney's district and they kept putting her back in office again and again. I guess it just depends on the mentality of those voters.

He is the poster child for term limits, though. He has robbed the American people for too long with his shady dealing.
