Hypocrisy in Denver

August 29th 2008 04:09
As I'm sure you know, the Democratic Presidential Convention has been going on in Denver this week. Mixed in with the Republican-bashing and the speechifying has been a heaping helping of hypocrisy. Isn't that shocking? Politicians are known for shameless hypocrisy, but the Democrats have really outdone themselves this time.

In this case, an ABC reporter was arrested for taking pictures of Senators and their big-money lobbyists. Maybe if he had snuck into a private building and taken pictures of a private meeting, I could understand the arrest. However, he was taking pictures FROM A PUBLIC SIDEWALK. I'm not surprised that the Democratic Senators would be concerned about the possible exposure of their dalliances with lobbyists. However, it takes a lot of gall to shut down the press in such a brutal way while you're giving speech after speech about the evil corporations and their undue influence on Washington. Also, it's amazingly hypocritical for them to talk about ethics and transparency in the halls of Congress while they take extreme action against press members who dare to document a meeting of heavy hitters like this. That truly is a despicable display of hypocrisy.

Oh, and don't even get me started on the silliness of claiming to have a "green" convention when the convention itself has the carbon footprint of multiple Super Bowls. Give me just a small break, please.

Certainly, the Democrats haven't cornered the market on hypocrisy. I'm sure we'll see plenty of examples in next week's GOP convention. However, the Gestapo tactics these Dems use (or allow to be used) in order to hide their malfeasance is disgraceful. The Democratically-led Congress has the lowest approval rating in history. That's not the least bit surprising when you see behavior such as this.

Well said, PopCon. As fast as the Dems are changing their positions, it's a wonder they haven't sprained something! And their treatment of the photographers on the sidewalks of Denver is a frightening preview of their Fairness Doctrine plan, too!

I'm pretty sure that if you look in the thesaurus under "hypocrite," or "fraud" or "phony", it term "Democrat" should be there in the definition!

You would think that every other media outlet would pick up on this. It should be front page news. ABC was trying to do some REAL journalism and was attacked for it. I guess the rest of the media's love of Obama and the Democrats is bigger than their commitment to fellow media members or the field of journalism.

Kudos to ABC for trying to shed some light on the backroom dealings of our elected officials.
