The GOP doesn't get it

I see that the GOP is heading to Hawaii for a "strategy" meeting.
Why is this a problem? They have to meet somewhere, right? This is why their choice of location irks me: They are showing that they, like the Dems, don't get it. Americans are sick of the wastefulness and largesse of our political "leaders". It doesn't matter that they aren't doing this with taxpayer dollars. Spending time for a simple meeting in luxurious (i.e., expensive) settings demonstrates to me that they are just as out of touch with the average person as they always were.
Here's an idea: Have it in the conference room at a Howard Johnson's in DC -- or Nashville -- or Des Moines. Have it at a Holiday Inn Select. Have it at a Super 8. Better yet, conduct the meeting over the internet. The technology for that has existed for years. Let be honest here: No one really expects the GOP's "think tank" to come up with any life-changing conclusions at this meeting, anyway. Do it cheap. Go heavy on content and light on extravagance.
I get requests for donations from the GOP all the time. This kind of wasteful spending is why I'm often tempted to attach the "no postage necessary" return envelope to a brick and mail it back to them. They don't need my money. They need to use the money they have to buy a clue.
