Change we can (not) believe in
March 31st 2009 04:40
I've written several times about John Murtha, the corrupt, pork-loving representative from Pennsylvania. The Democratically-controlled House is abjectly refusing to even take a peek into the most recent accusations against him:
What a surprise that the Dems refuse to hold themselves to the same standards that they hold the GOP to. If Murtha had an "R" behind his name, there would be an investigation and he would be forced to testify in a very public hearing. That "D", however, shields him from such trivialities as integrity and accountability.
Is this the "change we can believe in" that Obama spoke of on the campaign trail? As far as the House goes, the more things change, the more they stay the same.
For the sixth time, the House has rejected a resolution by Rep. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) to initiate an ethics investigation into the relationship between lawmakers at the PMA Group.
Flake is a long time anti-earmark crusader who has sought to call attention to the ethical shadow surrounding the PMA lobbying firm, which FBI agents raided in February. Paul Magliocchetti, the founder of the firm and a former aide to Rep. John Murtha (D-PA), has closed the lobbying shop and moved to Florida.
Murtha, who chairs the House appropriations subcommittee for defense spending, has come under fire for his ties to PMA clients.

Even with the GOP being clueless, though, it's behavior like this that will eventually cause the Dems to be voted out and lose control of Congress. The stench of their shady dealings is already starting to grow.
