A suggestion for the GOP
January 23rd 2010 10:39
If the GOP wants to win big in November, here's my suggestion: Cover Obama's expenses so he can fly around the country and personally campaign for all the Democratic candidates running for office. Why? Here's why:
* Obama campaigned in person for Jon Corzine in the New Jersey gubernatorial race. The result? Corzine lost.
* Obama campaigned in person for Creigh Deeds in the Virginia gubernatorial race. The result? Deeds lost.
* Obama flew to Copenhagen so that he could petition the members of the IOC to have the Olympics in Chicago? The result? Chicago was eliminated in the first round of voting.
* Obama campaigned in person for Martha Coakley in the Massachusetts Senatorial race. The result? Coakley lost.
It appears that Obama now has the anti-Midas touch. Anyone he vouches for should scream, turn, and run the other way. For now, though, candidates still seem to think his personal appearances help them -- so the GOP should encourage him to be an active campaigner for his fellow Dems. If he doesn't want to foot the bill for his little campaign jaunts, the GOP should pull out its checkbook and offer to fund his travels. That would be money well-spent.
